Time Away & Caregiving
Parental Leave
Overview
Our Parental Leave policy lets you take paid time off to care for and bond with your child.
What Is Parental Leave?
Becoming a parent is a big milestone! To help new parents bond with their child, AEO provides Paid Parental Leave to eligible full-time associates. You can take time off to bond with your newborn, adopted or recently placed foster child.
Who’s Eligible?
You’re eligible for Parental Leave if you have 30 consecutive days of full-time service.
How Parental Leave Works
-
1
Get up to 8 weeks
If you meet the eligibility requirements above, you can take up to 8 weeks of 100%-paid Parental Leave.
-
2
Know when you can take the leave
You must take this leave within 12 months of the qualifying event (birth, adoption of child or foster placement). You will need to take the leave in 1 week increments.
-
3
Understand the rules
If you take Short-Term Disability or a state-paid leave to give birth, your Parental Leave will begin directly following the end of that leave. Parental Leave runs concurrently with all applicable leave plans, including, but not limited to, FMLA, unpaid state and/or local leaves.
